Precision Spring Forming of a Helical Torsion Spring for the Automotive Industry

At Stanley Spring and Stamping Corporation, we specialize in precision spring forming and finishing. The project highlighted here was manufactured for a client in the automotive industry, and exemplifies these capabilities. Composed of ASTM A228, 2.06 mm music wire, this helical torsion spring was formed on our advanced CNC torsion machine. After forming a black phosphate coating was applied, in compliance with General Motors standard GM4435M for protective coatings.The spring featured dimensions of 16.90 mm in height, and an outside diameter of 35.0 mm, and was formed to tolerances of ±.13 mm, and an angular tolerance of ±2°.

Working to the customer supplied prints; we currently manufacture 100,000 of these springs annually, with lead times of 2 to 4 weeks. For more information on this project, see the table below or contact us directly.
