Fourslide Stamping of a Steel Clip for the Automotive Industry

Project description:

The product highlighted here was manufactured for an automotive industry customer in Ohio. The part, which is designed for use as panel clip, is composed of a .028" - .030" thick, Austempered spring steel. We worked from the customer supplied 2D CAD drawings, which called out dimensions of .723" in length, 1.135" (±.015") in width, .32" to .35" in height, with an outside diameter of .156".

At Stanley Spring and Stamping we utilize advanced fourslide stamping equipment, which allowed us to maintain the required angular tolerances of ±2°, and the overall tolerances of ±.010". As a standard part of this manufacturing process, stringent quality measure were utilized to maintain dimensional integrity. After manufacturing, all of the clips received a zinc flake coating before packing and shipping. We currently manufacture over 300,000 of these clips annually, with turn overs of 2 to 4 weeks.
