Precision Spring Forming of a Stainless Steel Extension Spring for the Electrical Industry

Project description:

Stanley Spring and Stamping Corporation was recently contracted by a manufacturer of electrical components to produce the extension spring highlighted here.

The spring was composed of a tempered 17-7 stainless steel, with a diameter of .048". Springs were formed on our advanced spring coiling equipment prior to being passivated. This extension spring featured dimensions of .376" in width and 2.950" in length, with specifications such as 1 lb. of initial tension, 14 lbs. (±1.50) of total load, and a corrected stress of 172,000 psi. Manufactured to tolerances of ±.005", at a volume of 50,000 annually, we deliver orders to this Illinois client with 2 to 4 week lead times. For more information see the table below.
